What Happens In A Child Impact Report?
A Child Impact Report is compiled by interviewing children and the parties. Each person is interviewed separately.
Why Will My Child Need To Be Interviewed?
Children are involved in this process to gain a better understanding of how they are being impacted by the issue before the Court.
What Things Will I Be Asked About During The Parent Interview?
Parents are asked about various risk factors that impact the child; such as family violence and drug abuse.
Parenting arrangements are also discussed, as well as your general relationship with your child.
How Long Does The Parent Interview Take?
Please allow approx 90 minutes.
How Is The Child Interview Done?
Usually the Child Interview is done face to face.
Are All Interviews Done On The Same Day?
No. The Parent Interview is done first, and in most cases the Child Interview is done on a different day to that.
When in conflict, due to the stress and anger, children’s needs can sometimes be lost. A child impact report involves interviewing the parties and children separately to gain an understanding of the needs of the children.
