I felt shame in who I was, but I could do nothing to hide it.
My parents, both immigrants, created a “family” and support.
We did not start with much, but this changed, and I had the privilege of living and travelling overseas.
This is where I began learning about advantage and disadvantage, and the power we all have to create change.
Having faced adversity in my own life and due to support from those around me,
I wanted others to know that their fate is not sealed.
Although made to believe that I was not capable, I completed a Bachelor of Social Work and later a Masters of Social Work (forensic studies) and am currently a confirmed Doctoral candidate.

Tikkun Olam is the Jewish practice of repairing the world through social action in the pursuit of social justice.
It is our human responsibility to heal the world, and the people in it.
In Jewish teachings, any activity that improves the world, bringing it closer to the harmonious state for which it is created, is considered 'Tikkun Olam'.
Annamarie puts this action into practice through her skills,
experience and expertise working with individuals, groups and organisations.
Compassionately Speaking aims to empower,
